2009 was probably one of the worst year's of my life with the death of one of my (anyone really who appreciates classic/timeless music) heroes Michael Jackson. Unfortunately right before 2010 came to a close we lost another icon, in Teena Marie. She won numerous awards, made classics with Rick James, not to mention was absolutely stunning in features and with her voice. She will be missed. This one is for Teena! #RIP

define.
Define yourself. I hear this two-word phrase often when it comes to style, but lets be honest here, do we all accept the true individuality of an individual?
Call me shallow, but I'm one of the few people who attend to the appearance of another. Style tells the story of a person. It's an expression of character that's displayed to an audience. We develop a sense of a person's personality through their wardrobe. Although I enjoy seeing a unique transformation in the racks of clothing, many fail to appreciate it. A lot of us conform to the norm and ridicule what's outside of it. Take for instance, the trending topic on South Jersey vs. North Jersey "swag". Yesterday, part of the Rutgers community started a debate via Twitter, tweeting their dislikes of each other's fashion sense. We can't compare two different worlds without an expectation of a contrast somewhere in between. Your norm may not be similar to someone else's norm. Accept it. Besides, I don't see a problem with differing from each other. That's what sets us apart.
Defining yourself may mean to conform to some people, or simply mean to strive for different. That's understood, but answer this, why do we judge collectively on such an individualistic matter? I'll leave it there.
With style,
NyjerahNicole

Song of the Year 2010
Okay so it's that time of the year! Holiday season is in full swing and its almost the end of the year. So it is now time to decide the (MY) Song of the Year. If you guys remember last year we had our first one (oh how time flies!) and Wale's Pretty Girls Walked with the title of Song of the Year. So I go through and have songs that this year I 1. had in heavy rotation or 2. really was theme music for a point in time during this year. Now the song may not even have come out this year because a couple on the list are from 09 but they served their purpose in 2010. I have songs that may not be very well known but that played a great part in getting me through my year. So I'll list the tracks after the jump and take input from you guys as to what I should choose. You know I like getting to the good stuff so I won't keep you guys waiting anymore. ENJOI!
1. French Montana FT Wiz Khalifa, Nipsey Hussle, Big Sean - I'm On It
2. Mos Def - History ft. Talib Kweli
3. Dom Kennedy - It Was Beautiful
4. Just Begun - Reflection Eternal Feat. Mos Def, Jay Electronica & J. Cole
5. Rick Ross - B.M.F. ft. Styles P

I recently shot my debut music video 'Nothingness' (produced by Sah Boogie) off of V-3 (big up to everyone who copped it, if not do so) in NYC. Prolly gonna drop it sometime in January. S-Dot was on hand for support (thx homie a ton) not to mention provide alot of laughs and each of us copped Kanye's new album from Best Buy on sale lol. But any wayyyy, before the video drops, Enjoy the Polaroids Folks!!! And A Big Special Thanks to the man behind the camera Frantzy Fil!!!

On the Come up
It's awesome when I get to listen a new artist and introduce them to our readers here at Visions. Its even more awesome when you went to High School with the artist. I don't know what it is about St. Benedict's that breeds greatness but I've got no issue with it. All-starr Da Great is one of the next artist to come out of Jersey and he is looking to make a name for himself. A member of BFam Entertainment And is signed to Block Ent/Atlantic Records. I have only heard a couple tracks from ADG (as he is called if you been typing a lot) has a gritty hard flow with varying subject matter. In one of his tracks he even goes on to talk about handing out his demo only to have someone think they are being robbed by him (the fact that he is 6'5" might have a bit to do with that). He has potential as an artist and I'm interested in finding out where that goes. I'll leave you guys with a link a couple pics and a bit of bio after the jump. ENJOI

Bio:
Rapper Aswan Minatee, better known as Allstarr Da Great, was born in Newark, NJ. Growing up in such a challenging neighborhood where many youths fall short of success, ADG kept busy playing the sport he loved, basketball! He played for the nationally ranked basketball team of St. Benedicts Prep. Letting the streets take over his image of positivity, ADG lost his Division 1 scholarship. “I got serious with rapping my senior year in the high because I was slick with the words and after not making the best decisions I had to go to Trinity Valley in Texas while my friends where going to big name schools.” says ADG as he recounts his basketball days.
Soon after that he decided to make a move down south. Several times a week he would take a 2 hour trip to Dallas, Texas to work with G Music Group. He worked in the same studio with artist such as Erykah Badu, Slim Thug and many more. He promoted his music through Internet sources on popular websites and was featured on MTV’s Bubbling Under the Radar for “My Jealousy." On the website HipHopGame.com, his song titled "My Jealousy" was one of the top played songs in history!

dePOSITES
I love when there is new sneaker news or rumors that hit the web. The sneakerhead community proceeds to plot and scheme for months on end as whether or not the sneakers will release; What they will do when they release; How many pairs they will acquire, and so on. The most recent of the rumors are a slew of new Foamposite releases. The foamposite is easily one of the greatest sneakers ever!! They are heavily sought after in the sneaker community and they are sick shoe to have on your feet. I own two pairs myself and I plan on acquiring plenty more. The coolest thing of it all is when pictures surface. Now there is always speculation on whether these are actual future colorways, just samples, or just photoshoped pics. I just say, hey a guy can dream. So in the pics I have for you guys today we see 5 possible colorways. They all had my heart racing. I want them!! Gotta catch 'em all on some Pokemon stuff. ENJOI!

There Goes the Neighborhood
I know I know we haven't posted in a while and we told you we'd be back. Well we have all just been so busy doing our thing and working on bringing you the best that Visions of Quest has to offer. With that being said I am glad to announce that we have a new member joining us here at Visions. We are always looking to expand and develop the VOQ name in any way we can.. And what better way than adding one of the flyest ladies I know as one of our members. I'd like for you guys to give a warm and hearty welcome to the lovely Ms. Nyjerah Nicole! In the short time I have had the opportunity to know Nyjerah she has wowed me with her sick fashion sense, crazy dance skills, and a style and bravado all her own. She is easily one of the best dressed females I know on a regular basis and I'm glad to have her bring her Point of view to us here at Visions. She is also one of the sweetest girls I know (when you stay on her friendly side.. I've seen the other side *shutters*.. But I digress) and she will bring a bit more life to Visions of Quest. I'm doing my best to make sure that the quality of content is high and continuous as best I can. Hopefully adding Nyjerah will help to alleviate some of that. Enough of the formal stuff!! I want you guys to get to know Nyjerah and welcome her with open arms!! EVERYONE SAY HI NYJERAH (Hi Nyjerah)!! ENJOI!
