R.I.P. Teena Marie

2009 was probably one of the worst year's of my life with the death of one of my (anyone really who appreciates classic/timeless music) heroes Michael Jackson. Unfortunately right before 2010 came to a close we lost another icon, in Teena Marie. She won numerous awards, made classics with Rick James, not to mention was absolutely stunning in features and with her voice. She will be missed. This one is for Teena! #RIP

define.

Define yourself. I hear this two-word phrase often when it comes to style, but lets be honest here, do we all accept the true individuality of an individual?

Call me shallow, but I'm one of the few people who attend to the appearance of another. Style tells the story of a person. It's an expression of character that's displayed to an audience. We develop a sense of a person's personality through their wardrobe. Although I enjoy seeing a unique transformation in the racks of clothing, many fail to appreciate it. A lot of us conform to the norm and ridicule what's outside of it. Take for instance, the trending topic on South Jersey vs. North Jersey "swag". Yesterday, part of the Rutgers community started a debate via Twitter, tweeting their dislikes of each other's fashion sense. We can't compare two different worlds without an expectation of a contrast somewhere in between. Your norm may not be similar to someone else's norm. Accept it. Besides, I don't see a problem with differing from each other. That's what sets us apart.

Defining yourself may mean to conform to some people, or simply mean to strive for different. That's understood, but answer this, why do we judge collectively on such an individualistic matter? I'll leave it there.

With style,
NyjerahNicole

Song of the Year 2010

Okay so it's that time of the year! Holiday season is in full swing and its almost the end of the year. So it is now time to decide the (MY) Song of the Year. If you guys remember last year we had our first one (oh how time flies!) and Wale's Pretty Girls Walked with the title of Song of the Year. So I go through and have songs that this year I 1. had in heavy rotation or 2. really was theme music for a point in time during this year. Now the song may not even have come out this year because a couple on the list are from 09 but they served their purpose in 2010. I have songs that may not be very well known but that played a great part in getting me through my year. So I'll list the tracks after the jump and take input from you guys as to what I should choose. You know I like getting to the good stuff so I won't keep you guys waiting anymore. ENJOI!

1. French Montana FT Wiz Khalifa, Nipsey Hussle, Big Sean - I'm On It

2. Mos Def - History ft. Talib Kweli

3. Dom Kennedy - It Was Beautiful

4. Just Begun - Reflection Eternal Feat. Mos Def, Jay Electronica & J. Cole

5. Rick Ross - B.M.F. ft. Styles P

But any wayyyy, before the video drops, Enjoy the Polaroids Folks!!! And A Big Special Thanks to the man behind the camera Frantzy Fil!!!

On the Come up

It's awesome when I get to listen a new artist and introduce them to our readers here at Visions. Its even more awesome when you went to High School with the artist. I don't know what it is about St. Benedict's that breeds greatness but I've got no issue with it. All-starr Da Great is one of the next artist to come out of Jersey and he is looking to make a name for himself. A member of BFam Entertainment And is signed to Block Ent/Atlantic Records. I have only heard a couple tracks from ADG (as he is called if you been typing a lot) has a gritty hard flow with varying subject matter. In one of his tracks he even goes on to talk about handing out his demo only to have someone think they are being robbed by him (the fact that he is 6'5" might have a bit to do with that). He has potential as an artist and I'm interested in finding out where that goes. I'll leave you guys with a link a couple pics and a bit of bio after the jump. ENJOI

Follow him on Twitter: @AllStarrdagreat
Video: 5 star Freestyle

Bio:
Rapper Aswan Minatee, better known as Allstarr Da Great, was born in Newark, NJ. Growing up in such a challenging neighborhood where many youths fall short of success, ADG kept busy playing the sport he loved, basketball! He played for the nationally ranked basketball team of St. Benedicts Prep. Letting the streets take over his image of positivity, ADG lost his Division 1 scholarship. “I got serious with rapping my senior year in the high because I was slick with the words and after not making the best decisions I had to go to Trinity Valley in Texas while my friends where going to big name schools.” says ADG as he recounts his basketball days.

Soon after that he decided to make a move down south. Several times a week he would take a 2 hour trip to Dallas, Texas to work with G Music Group. He worked in the same studio with artist such as Erykah Badu, Slim Thug and many more. He promoted his music through Internet sources on popular websites and was featured on MTV’s Bubbling Under the Radar for “My Jealousy." On the website HipHopGame.com, his song titled "My Jealousy" was one of the top played songs in history!

dePOSITES

I love when there is new sneaker news or rumors that hit the web. The sneakerhead community proceeds to plot and scheme for months on end as whether or not the sneakers will release; What they will do when they release; How many pairs they will acquire, and so on. The most recent of the rumors are a slew of new Foamposite releases. The foamposite is easily one of the greatest sneakers ever!! They are heavily sought after in the sneaker community and they are sick shoe to have on your feet. I own two pairs myself and I plan on acquiring plenty more. The coolest thing of it all is when pictures surface. Now there is always speculation on whether these are actual future colorways, just samples, or just photoshoped pics. I just say, hey a guy can dream. So in the pics I have for you guys today we see 5 possible colorways. They all had my heart racing. I want them!! Gotta catch 'em all on some Pokemon stuff. There Goes the Neighborhood

I know I know we haven't posted in a while and we told you we'd be back. Well we have all just been so busy doing our thing and working on bringing you the best that Visions of Quest has to offer. With that being said I am glad to announce that we have a new member joining us here at Visions. We are always looking to expand and develop the VOQ name in any way we can.. And what better way than adding one of the flyest ladies I know as one of our members. I'd like for you guys to give a warm and hearty welcome to the lovely Ms. Nyjerah Nicole! In the short time I have had the opportunity to know Nyjerah she has wowed me with her sick fashion sense, crazy dance skills, and a style and bravado all her own. She is easily one of the best dressed females I know on a regular basis and I'm glad to have her bring her Point of view to us here at Visions. She is also one of the sweetest girls I know (when you stay on her friendly side.. I've seen the other side *shutters*.. But I digress) and she will bring a bit more life to Visions of Quest. I'm doing my best to make sure that the quality of content is high and continuous as best I can. Hopefully adding Nyjerah will help to alleviate some of that. Enough of the formal stuff!! I want you guys to get to know Nyjerah and welcome her with open arms!! EVERYONE SAY HI NYJERAH (Hi Nyjerah)!! ENJOI!

Jam of The Week: Shiny Suit Theory (Jay Electronica ft. Jay-Z & The Dream)

I think its safe to say the 2nd coming of the ROC is in full effect. Mr Carter (the BK one), J. Cole, Rhianna, Wale, and now What the F*ck Is a JAY ELECTRONICA!!!! When I found out he signed to the ROC I literally clicked my heels like a 2nd grader. This is a fresh new joint from his upcoming project Act 2 and duhhh its the JOW. Hip Hop got it right and this time & thats a very good thing! *fist pump*

Mixtape Vault: J. Cole-Friday Night Lights

Easily one of the dopest Mixtapes of the year. Friday Night Lights is Cole's 3rd and best work by far. The Come Up & Warm Up weren't bad but the newest installment definitely raises the bar for the Carolina Native. Includes features by Drake, Big Sean, Kanyeezy, & Wale and not to mention the production/beats are bonkers as expected. I was fortunate enough to catch Rocnation's 1st Overall Pick Live in Concert last month and he did not disappoint to say the least. As stated before the debut CD should be a classic! Cop this tape uhh NOW!!!!

"...Rhyming Ignoramus is Anus.."

Take 2/3s VOQ add 1 part Big Brother Movement [Sah Ril to be exact] (BBM for short) and what do  you get? STUDIO SESSION! As many of you may not know (yes you read it right NOT) Husani and I are following in the footsteps of The 'U' and making our own full length mixtapes. So we got our first real crack at recording together in the studio. This was Hudini's first time so we had to pop is proverbial studio cherry (#pause) and give him a crack and spit on the mic. I have to say he did pretty well for his first time in my opinion. We had loads of fun churning out tracks and laughing it up with the boogie man and I have to say that I'm excited about our mixtapes. No set release dates (or titles for that matter) but just know they are coming and soon. That's the skinny for now more post to come. I know I been MIA (and I'm sorry) but I'm never too far away. In Case You Forgot Its Still>>>>> #NoDaysOff

The studio sessions, performances, interviews and weekly grind are all piling up. At the beginning of this year I promised everyone that Im really taking a #nodaysoff approach to this whole music thang and if V-3 didn't prove that theres a 5-part mini movie/documentary in the works for the beautiful people directed by Mr. Randy Mars that will culminate with #NoDaysOff EP dropping in 2011. Not gonna drop episodes every Friday like Yeezy but keep an eye out for it. lol

Sidebar-Gonna shoot 2-3 videos for some joints off #NoDaysOff EP and they shall be epic shout out to Killa Kake, Randy Mars, and Julian Marshall

Jam of The Week: The Joy (Kanye West feat. Pete Rock, Jay-Z, Charlie Wilson, Curtis Mayfield & Kid Cudi)

This is really the Jam of the Year. G.O.O.D. Fridays are already #Timeless but this track is really on another level. A sexy young Pam Grier as the artwork and the legendary Curtis Mayfield made this joint pretty much perfect. Yeezy is really killing it right now and all you can do is applaud this man.

Jam of The Week/Video Time!!: Aston Martin Music Rick Ross (ft. Chrisette Michele & Drake)

This week's J.O.W. was certified Boss Status!Teflon Don was hands down Ross' best album ever. It featured bangers by Lex Luger (one of the dopest up & coming producers out & he's 19), Yeezy, Jay-Z, Gucci Mane, Styles P. and a host of others. But my favorite track on the album was easily Aston Martin Music. Maybachs are soooo 2009, and this joint was on repeat on the iPod for a gooood minute. Not to mention the lovely, sexy, talented Miss Chrisette Michele provided the track with the soul and splendor which she always delivers. Enjoy folks!!!

AITCH to the MizzO N to the izzEY

A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to go see one of the artist I have watched grow and develop perform for the first time. H-Money (or Aitch) performed at Mood Lounge. I have to say I was quite impressed. It was a nice crowd, good music and drinks which is always a good combimation. From start finish Aitch kept the crowd live and his band played a major part in that. He was held down by his right hand hype man Ace Youngin and his Drummer (one hell of a drummer I might add) J-Rock. All in all in was a good show. I also got a chance to hear a few snippets from his next mixtape... Let's just say this is only the beginning. I have some videos of the perfance that will be up once I get a working computer. So just take a gander at my reviews of the show and Aitch's mixtape The Umbrella Prequel. That's all got for you today. ENJOI!

Cypher of the Decade Was Really G.O.O.D.!!!

If you missed the BET Hip Hop Awards this year you didnt miss much. However, there were some memorable moments like the Pac tribute, Dip Set returning, and the Guru tribute. But the highlight once again was the cypher. Last year the Eminem/Mos Def/Black Though cypher easily stole the show but how about a G.O.O.D. Cypher. Yeezy, Comm Sense, Big Sean, Cyhi The Prince all with the MJ of DJ's Premo on the wheels of steel. Hip Hop paradise. This was timeless in every aspect of the word!!! Enjoy!

At Last There Will Be >>>>L.A.S.E.R.S.

After protesting, petitioning, angry tweets, interviews, and high degrees of grime behavior all is well with Lupe & Atlantic Records. His 3rd studio LP finally has a release date (March 28th) and the 3 and half-year hiatus will be ended. The mixtapes, features, and singles here and there were a good apple teaser for his loyal fans (including myself!!!) but studio LP's is where artists leave their legacies and the countdown now begins for March 28th. He's got a dope mixtape on the way which will be the prelude to his highly anticipated debut album. Artist... And the Labels that Kill them...

This Post is self explanatory. I felt like it needed to be read. SO READ. ENJOI! Read:

Nas letter to Def Jam

From: Nas
To: LA Reid, Steve Bartels, Steve Gawley, Michael Seltzer, Joseph Borrino, Chris Hicks
Subject: PUT MY SHIT OUT!

Peace to all,

With all do respect to you all, Nas is NOBODY’s slave. This is not the 1800′s, respect me and I will respect you.

I won’t even tap dance around in an email, I will get right into it. People connect to the Artist @ the end of the day, they don’t connect with the executives. Honestly, nobody even cares what label puts out a great record, they care about who recorded it. Yet time and time again its the executives who always stand in the way of a creative artist’s dream and aspirations. You don’t help draw the truth from my deepest and most inner soul, you don’t even do a great job @ selling it. The #1 problem with DEF JAM is pretty simple and obvious, the executives think they are the stars. You aren’t…. not even close. As a matter of fact, you wish you were, but it didn’t work out so you took a desk job. To the consumer, I COME FIRST. Stop trying to deprive them! I have a fan base that dies for my music and a RAP label that doesn’t understand RAP. Pretty fucked up situation

This isn’t the 90′s though. Beefing with record labels is so 15 years ago. @ this point I just need you all to be very clear where I stand and how I feel about “my label.” I could go on twitter or hot 97 tomorrow and get 100,000 protesters @ your building but I choose to walk my own path my own way because since day one I have been my own man. I did business with Tommy Mottola and Donnie Einer, two of the most psycho dudes this business ever created. I worked well with them for one major reason……. they believed in me. The didn’t give a fuck about what any radio station or magazine said….those dudes had me.

Lost Tapes is a movement and a very important set up piece for my career as it stands. I started this over 5 years ago @ Columbia and nobody knew what it was or what it did but the label put it out as an LP and the fans went crazy for it and I single handlely built a new brand of rap albums. It’s smart and after 5 years it’s still a head of the game. This feels great and you not feeling what I’m feeling is disturbing. Don’t get in the way of my creativity. We are aligned with the stars here, this is a movement. There is a thing called KARMA that comes to haunt you when you tamper with the aligning stars. WE ARE GIVING THE PEOPLE EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT. Stop throwing dog shit on a MAGICAL moment.

You don’t get another Nas recording that doesn’t count against my deal….PERIOD! Keep your bullshit $200,000.00 fund. Open the REAL budget. This is a New York pioneers ALBUM, there ain’t many of us. I am ready to drop in the 4th quarter. You don’t even have shit coming out! Stop being your own worst enemy. Let’s get money!

-N.Jones

It's sad when an artist as established as Nas has to send this to his label..
SB: Shout out to my homey Manny. I definitely got this off his Tumblr.

Finer Things in Life

So as of late Jordan brand has been stirring a lot of buzz with the anticipation of some future releases slated for this and next year. The alleged Laney High/Grape V pack, Cool Grey XIs AND Vs, Flint XIIIs are just a few of the releases that have sneakerheads counting down days on their calender. They have also upped the ante with the Premium quality QS (Quickstrike <- Make sure you keep up ill only do this once) Premio Bin 23s that have dropped. 3 have released so far the Premio Bin IIs, IXs, and XIIIs. There is news of the fourth installment of the Premio Bin 23 line being the Jordan VIIs (My favorite Jordans). Photos have released and I have to say once they give a set release date I will be in line for my pair. There have been mixed reviews but in my eyes these are one of the best releases in recent history. From the photos you see that the shoe is of the utmost quality and they took a bit of a chance with the color blocking which really makes the shoe come alive. These are a must cop for any Jordan VII or Sneaker connoisseur. Dope Concept. Dope Kick. ENJOI!

G.O.O.D. Fridays are Becoming #Timeless

This is starting to look like a Yeezy fan page but we here @ Visions dont give a flying F$#K!!!!! What Mr West is doing every Friday is just not fair. To drop dope fire in a free MP3 download every Friday until Christmas is his way of saying "At the end of the day God D8888 Im Killn this sh*t, I know damn well yall feeln this sh*t!" To see twitter, facebook, and blogs explode every friday when Yeezy drops this gold is a thing of beauty. Swizz Beats, Mos Def, Jay-Z, Kid Cudi are just a few of the A-Listers he's recruiter for the series. And as I've said on numerous occasions and will continue to do so until November, Album of the Year is Reynolds Wrap! *kanye shrug*

Lets Have A Toast For>>>>> Mr. West

If you missed the VMA's last nite (I missed most of it but caught all the performances on Youtube lol) you prolly missed one of the best performances in the show's history. In the midst of all the hate, slander, bitterness he's received since last yr's Taylor Swift incident, Kanye just decided to flip all the negativity into another classic record. Runaway (ft Pusha T) is CRAAACK! Only Mr. West can make a song about hate sound so lovely. I've said it before and I will continue to say it, album of the year is rapped up and its not even November. *kanye shrug*

Mixtape Vault: Big Sean-Finally Famous Vol. 3

One of my personal favorite up and commers out rite now without a doubt. '10 XXL Freshman & Kanye West's prodigy, Big Sean has finally dropped his highly anticipated 3rd installment in his Finally Famous series. This mixtape is by far his best one yet. Not only is the production bananas (Kanye, No I.D., Don Cannon) but the features are just as fresh (Asher Roth, Curren$y, Drake, Bun B). This mixtape is an album quality project which is a strong indicator that Sean's debut LP is gonna be pretty top flight. This is some G.O.O.D. music indeed!!

Jam of The Week: Put It Down (Bun B ft. Drake)

Shout out to Bun B for having arguably one of the hottest albums of the year so far. Ross' Teflon Don was impressive, Drake did his thing (S-Dot is secretly a fan haha), and Kanye will probably wrap up album of the year in November. But in the mean time I'm really impressed & excited bout Bun B's masterpiece. 5 Mics in the Source for the first time in like forever serves as a testament to how much of classic this was. The whole album is gorgeous but this joint Put It Down (ft Drake) has been on repeat since it entered my iTunes library. H-Town stand up! Bun B, WELL DONE BROTHER!

(Artist Spotlight): The Unfriendly Ghost

His uniform A fitted, white V-neck, straight fit jeans and some oversized head phones. His weapon of choice is music. The soldier I'm talking about is a member of an army of people by the name of FoQus Music Ent. FoQus first artist Casper G is out looking to make a name for himself in the music game. Guys got a strong delivery and relentless flow. He is a smooth punchlline-ish rapper with the potential to be a good lyricist. I had the chance to listen to and review his most recent album Just Listen which I gave 3.5/5. Dudes got a lot offer and he is not the run of the mill guns and drugs types rapper. He raps about what he knows which is always a plus coming up in the game now-a-days. He touches a slew of differnet subjects, from meeting the girl of his dreams to being drunk and hoping the cop don't arrest him. Casper G fits into the mold of the modern day young viral MC. He is here to tell is story and he is looking for someone to hear it... hence the title of his album. So check out his album, his other music and GET FAMILIAR with Casper G. ENJOI!

Hail Holy Grails

I saw this and my jaw literally dropped. I was in sheer awe when the sight of this crossed my retina. I literally sat for 2-3 minutes just sayin "oh my god" repeatedly. You guys don't understand how insane this would be. I could die happy if this happened. It would be the end all be all of my kick in my opinion. ("Sidanii what are you talking about?" you ask) Jordan Brand is appaently slated to release probably the greatest Jay Pack since the Defining Moment VI/XI pack. The Laney High/Grape V pack is reportedly going to release in 2011. Now I don't know about you but this would easily be the best cop I've ever mad in one sitting (and I have made some dope purchases in groups. Two of the most sought after Jordans period (let alone Vs) will be in a pack together souds utterly insane. Grapes are my Holy Grails I have been searching for a DS pair for as long as I can remember. Laney High's are a different story all together. To have them together in a pack? Now Jordan brand is asking for some real trouble. My time, effort and energy will be dedicated to purchasing these once they release (by any means necessary). That's of course after I get the coughdrops foams, pewter foams, cranberry half cents, Chicago Xs, Cool Grey XIs, and the Red Uptempo 97s. I will have them!!! I got some photos for you to drool over. ENJOI!

(Song of the Moment): Artificial Clones

As I sift through all the artist  that send me emails I get some good, some bad, (and Some in between) but its interesting to listening to an artist take on what making good music is. One perspective that I am feeling a bit is a guy buy the name of Future Joyner. Sent me a track called Synthetic Substitution (Watch the Video on Vimeo) and I have to admit that the beat really brought me. The combination of a dope beat and smooth lyrics always catches an underground head like myself. The track was produced by Lord Quest (who i'm liing just off the basis of his name). The beat was well produced and Futures smooth melodic voice helps to make it a good track to vibe too. Its a bit light on the lyrics side but for the subject of the track I think it was well put together. I was doing a bit of browsing and I also stubbled upon the full length Album this track is featured on. The album is called Music For the Bitches (I love the name). I haven't had the chance to listen yet but I will definitely be taking the time because I feel like Future and his group the Film Skool Rejekts are worth a run just off the track of this track. I will say lookout for stuff from them on the blog and look for their Album review. For now, just vibe out folks! So check out the track Synthetic Substition and Music for the Bitches and let me know what you folks think. ENJOI!

Silver Dollar

I know I know a sneaker post has been long overdue. So here it is!! This holiday season approaching has a lot of ill sneaker releases on the horizon. Cool Grey XIs, Re-Release of the coughdrop Foamposites and the purpose of todays post the cranberry and eggplant half cents. This December Nike will be releasing both the Cranberry and Eggplant 1/2 Cent pennys. They have been one of the most talked about releases of the year. First because this are the first time the 1/2 Cents will be released in both colorways and 2nd because its been a bit since the 1/2 Cents had a recent release. Both of those reasons makes this an exciting release for Sneakerheads and Penny fans alike. The Cranberrys are slated to release December 18th. No word yet on when the eggplants drop but I'll keep you guys updated. I been eyeing the cranberrys for months now so know I'll soon have  my pair. JAM OF THE WEEK: Teflon Diva

The person that introduced me to this song is leaving for school in a couple of days. Maybe that's why I'm playing it so much. I think its because it's always in the back of my mind playing (I'm thinking this is why). I am really enamored with this song. I told you guys we aren't all rap and hip hop! ENJOI!

LOL ;-)

BACK! I know you have missed us quite a bit but you know even if it isn't on the blog we are putting in work. The summer is coming to end (I know we are all so sad) but it's been one for the books. Still that isnt the focus of today's post. Today's post is actually about a rap group that emailed one of their tracks. A track that I then deemed worthy enough to put on the blog. EARTH (Everything Around Revolves Thru Hiphop) sent me "Sexin After Textin" ft. Tie and I had to admit at first I overlooked the email. I was thinking that some souljah knockoff sent me music to kill a few of my brain cells but I am also one to say NEVER ASSUME because to my surprise it quite the opposite. These 4 guys (Write Words, Noe, Double Negative, and Ro tone) seem like any seasoned underground artist (wity, clever, and melodic). I clicked play on the track and from the beat drop It had me bopping my head and singing the chorus by the end of the song. It was a tasteful rendition of something we all know can be a very *eh hem* touchy subject (Pun intended). I have definitely had it on repeat (you probably will too). Nonetheless I enjoyed the song and it I'm looking for more from these guys. Im hoping to hear more of the same. For now listen to the track and tell me what you think. ENJOI!

Ummmmm Exclusive VOQ Track!!! 'Milliroz' (Million, Rose)

I think the world pretty much knows by now that this is a Hip Hop, Sports, Fashion, and News blog but aside from all that good stuff this post is kind of special. Last week myself and the rest of the VOQ gang linked up with Sah Boogie, Sah ril, Boogie Til Ya Nose Bleeds (maaad nicknames lol) in his Newark home studio to finallyyyyy lay down the first ever VOQ exclusive track on wax, 'Milliroz (Million, Rose) which is Sah ril featuring VOQ-S-Dot & The 'U'. The recording session was full of laughs, jokes, deep Hip Hop conversation, liquor, dope beats, dope rhymes, and memories. It was a blast to hook up with Sah ril yet again and a pretty dope record was definitely the end result. Enough gassing, Enjoy!!!!!!

Sidebar- Sah ril produced the beat with a sample from a Russian Cartoon (no joke lol) and has a new mixtape on the way soon and will be on September's V-3: 'U' Jersey Vol. 3 dropping September 10th (shameless plug :-)

Mixtape Vault: Wale-More About Nothing

After taking a hiatus from the lime light to focus on touring and maintaining his growing fan base DC's first real legit Hip Hop superstar revisits the outlet which made him a star in the first place. Wale's More About Nothing is his 6th mixtape and by far one of his best works. It is the sequel to his 2008 masterpiece The Mixtape About Nothing. Both playing heavily off of Seinfeld. The songs feature classic soundbites from the show, and has guest appearances by both Wiz Khalifa as well as Kevin Durant. In the midst of the disappointment of his debut LP Attention Deficit only selling 28k in its opening week, Wale remains humble, driven, and consistent. The mixtape is dope and if this is a preview for future works from Mr Folarin uhhh he's headed in the right direction. Cop it NOW!!!!!!!!!!

Wale | "Ambitious Girl" ....Dedicated...To Me.

"Ambitious Girl...you just wanna win..."

I feel like Wale really and truly appreciates the grind and determination of all of us hard-working ladies with a vision to succeed...which is why yesterday, I stopped in the middle of what I was doing to sit in Central Park  and take a listen immediately after seeing a link posted on Twitter via his account. Three words after doing so.... I Love It.

This joint preceding his "More About Nothing" mixtape is such a refreshing interruption to the trap music we've all been eating up as of late. I assumed it was going to be a song and was really surprised when I pressed play only to discover that it is actually a spoken-word piece. Different. Creative. Honest. Inspiring.

Really, I can sing praises about it all day, mainly because I AM that Ambitious Girl...that girl that ran up and down Manhattan yesterday in 90+ degree weather with garment and shopping bags and cell phone in hand, the same girl that finished getting off the phone with her school to finalize payments for this semester, the same girl that gives out business cards at any random moment....the girl that does whatever it takes....the girl with AMBITION...ya dig?

So here you go...if you haven't already downloaded this and put it on repeat...take a listen right now to this super mellow set of stanzas....and ENJOY : )  -With Love, Farasha xo

Speaking of Amazing Comebacks....MISS LAURYN HILL | "REPERCUSSIONS"

In the midst of the boys reporting on recent findings in their world of hip-hop, I felt it was my duty to update those of you who are just now getting up from up under that rock you've been under on the comeback of Lauryn Hill. Anyone can tell you that I am a HUGE Lauryn fan. The masterpiece that is "The Miseducation" has been a staple and storybook of my life since grade school, so it goes without saying that my heart has been all a-flutter lately with her steadily performing her classics more and more in the past few months.

While we can all still enjoy her hits, she has INDEED been working on some new treasure..."Repercussions", yet another soulful and conscious, vibed out record has been all over the 'net ever since her live performance at the FESPAD Festival in Rwanda on Sunday!!! Please people...without further ado...GET INTO IT...

I'm also loving L.Boogie in these voluminous African-print harem pants, unique blazer and jewelry!!
