My Ears are Distant Relatives to the RPMs

I LOVE HIP HOP! Plain and Simple. So when Two sets of heavy hitters in Hip Hop release albums (on the same day [May 18th]) and it is met with little recognition it kind of bothers me. Talib Kweli and HI-Tek or Reflection Eternal as they are more commonly know dropped their sophmore collaboration album and it goes with out even a trickle in many realms. Nas and Damian Marley come with their groundbreaking collob album Distant Relartives and what have you heard of it? I could rant and complain but I will just promote Two of my favorite Lyricist in Nas and Talib, One of the most underrated producers in Soundtrack, and the son of the greatest reggae artist of his time Damian Marley. I will be purchasing copies of both albums (probably off iTunes) and you should to. I can't stress enough the importance of of supporting good music. It really is a shame that these guys don't always get the recognition that they deserve but I hope at least a couple more folks know about these releases. So go Cop my Hip Hop Heads (nice alliteration). ENJOI!

Fire Marshall said I took it to the MAX like TJ

Today's Post is not so much for the song or the video as it is for who it is featuring. I have the opportunity of introducing the world to a lovely friend of mine. She is an aspiring model and actress and one of the baddest girls I know. She also one of the most down to earth girls you will ever meet. You would see her and think she'd be one of the most unapproachable people but she is far from it. I am talking about the lovely Maxine Martinez. She is on her way to giving all of the video girls and models a run for their money. She is well on her way and is putting in work trying to make a name for herself. I love her will to succeed and I see big things in her fututre. Here is her video debut in Porta Rich's Unthinkable (I'm Ready) Video. ENJOI

Just for a moment...

I know its been a minute (and I apologize) but I felt had to give the visions reader something to nibble on for now. Be patient as the post will be pouring in come summertime. I am very late to some music and won't really catch on to a song or bu,p it til I feel like it pertains to me. One song that really is representing how I feel about a certain someone (who also happens to be a reader of ours). It is also a dope reggae track and coming from me that means a lot. Those who know me also know that even with my vast musical library my reggae game is in the pits.. but I will put in some work to get it up to par. This song is the first step. Really feeling this song and I had the chance to make it a reality today :-) ENJOI.

Sb: Today was probably one of the best days of my life... You are now reading the post of a College graduate btw...

Mamamamamamaaama

Today is a day like any other for some but to others it is the perfect opportunity to show their mothers the affection they should be showing on the regular. Some take their moms to dinner, others buy the candy, jewelry, or flowers and even others will shower their moms with other forms of affection to show how much they are appreciated. I went about a bit unorthodox because mom taught me that way. We ordered some pizza probably going to cozy up for a family movie because it's those type of moments you cherish the most. I love my mom to death. We fight, we laugh, we talk, we debate but I couldn't imagine any other person on the planet it being my mother (Don't tell her I said that!). She is at times my greatest adversary and others my best ally. We been through it all and It wouldn't be right of me to go through this day and not dedicate a post to her and all the mothers of Visions. I have to show love to the Magic mans moms who is really like my adopted mother. She lively and there really is very dull moments with her. The 'U's Mom is like traditional Nigerian mom stern, cool, and an awesome cook (she is a beast). And even Ms. Farasha's mom is miss the one time I met her (I see where she gets it from). So to all the awesome moms and all the other mothers out there Visions is wishing you a Happy Mother's Day. ENJOI.

Now it wouldn't be a Visions style ode to mothers without some tunes:

Traps and Champs

I feel like as of recently folks have got so caught in the "cool kid" youthful style of hip-hop that the real nitty gritty stuff kind of gets lost in translation. Well "the real is back" *Jay-Z Voice*. The Heavily anticipated mixtape releases from to hip-hop heavy hitters (nice alliteration). Young Jeezy's Trap or Die 2 released this past week and the hood really needed that. Jeezy is probably one of my favorite artist that is not so much a lyricist but still his passion and rawness allows people to relate to his music. I listened to this mixtape 2 or 3 times straight through. It was dope and I figured why not share that dopeness with the lovely readers at Visions. Also the 2nd piece to this tandem of trap is the incomparable Jada Kiss. He also released his mixtape The Champ is Here 3. Jada is one of the greatest rappers of all time dead or alive, fat or skinny, rapping or retired. So its pretty much goes without saying that this must be put in to your tape decks (read: iTunes [for those too young to know what a tape deck is]). I haven't had the chance to listen myself but I trust Jada enough to go out on a limb with this mixtape. So here they are! GO and download and listen. I will enjoy listening to both and I hope you guys get a taste of the REAL. ENJOI!

"WHY DON'T YOU LOVE ME?" ..OH BEYONCE....

Just when we all thought we could sit and catch our breath for a minute after keeping up with Beyonce's neverending grind all year, she comes again with something fresh...

Admittedly, I have very complex opinions about Beyonce: I think she is incredibly  talented when it comes to singing, songwriting, dancing and pulling off haute couture...but I also think she overdoes it with trying to do it all at one time in monthly/weekly/hourly intervals LoL. Where as her younger sister, Solange (one of my favs, who coincidentally wrote this great track) is outspoken, edgy, and carefree 24/7, Beyonce sort of confuses me with her multiple public personas....Nevertheless...no hatin over here...at the end of the day there is no denying she's officially a heavy hitter in the game & I admire her.....soOoo with that said, I have to give my 2 thumbs up to her newly released single "Why Don't You Love Me?" off her 'I Am..Sasha Fierce' album.. along with the video which aired earlier this week.

The video showcases Bey as 1 part 70's bada$$, 1 part 50's darling housewife, and 1 part avant-garde pin-up...venting her frustration with being Mrs. Everything : cooking, cleaning, and turning her sexy on for her beau and still getting no love... "Bey is that you smoking cigs and sipping on dirty martinis?!" ....mm yup. LoL. She's channeled everyone from Lucille Ball to Lady GaGa to Joan Crawford up in this one. It's kind of crazy, in a good way. I won't go on & on...the vid is wild enough to speak for itself...I love the styling, I love the directing and the grainy, smoky kind of retro filming, and if I had to pick a fav part it would be her dusting all her Grammy's on that mantle! It's like a subliminal middle finger to any haters haha...okay kids...enough of me...

R-O-C is Back?

I couldnt believe the news myself. I was browsing Thisis50.com (my outlet to the world) and caught a dope video/feature about Dam Dash & Curren$y. At a recent concert Dam gave Curren$y one of the most cherished charms in all of Hip Hop. The Rocafella chain. No it wasnt Kanye's, it wasnt J.Cole's, it wasn't Jay-Z's, it wasnt Jadakiss' It was one of Dam's very own. He is planning on resurrecting the label. Something hes wanted to do for some time. Jay-Z's Rocnation is really enabling new artists to create the new wave/generation of Hip Hop for years to come. But The ROC which was one of the trendsetters really seem to be doing the same. Curren$y's debut album Pilot Talk (June 15th release) seems to be the first building block in the resurrection of one of Hip Hop's most storied labels. Idk bout you but Im very hyped! Peep the video & news here 1st: ROC Back?
