UPPR MGMT

It's been a while since I've done a music related post and it is long overdue. I love giving up and coming artist and producers their shine and this is one of those times. This past year I spent some time in North Carolina getting my masters and I met some really interesting characters. Two guys I met were a little bit more interesting when it came to their love for music.

One guy a quiet, unassuming, witty Ohio native who graduated form Indiana State University. The other a Maryland guy, a Stanford graduate, and an alpha, who had a northeastern attitude with a Cali flair. Two guys, who if you met them in passing you wouldn't believe that they make one of the most dope producer duos this side of the hemisphere. Wesley Lenear (@Cnwizz) and Matthew Ashton (@AshtonGold301) make up UPPR MGMT (Upper Management).

Both true hip hop heads who bring their own style of production to the music they make together. Wes a midwesterner with smooth melodic take on beats with a trap undertone. Matt a backpacker with Cali and underground hip hop influences. I've sat and watched these guys make beat after beat and its come out magnificent. They are quite the producing tandem and to only have known each other a year and have so much chemistry in a small time frame is a true testament to their love and dedication to the craft.

Not to mention Matt's lyrical ability to boot. They are also quite the producers on their own. I had the opportunity to sit in on a couple sessions and even jam with these studio masterminds and what transpired was nothing short of ILL. I expect you'll be hearing a lot more from UPPR MGMT pretty soon. Their stain and legend grows and when you listen to what they have done you'll know why. Below I'll post links to their sound clouds and some tracks they've produced. That's all for now!!

#FoodForThought

Introducing a new blog section entitled #FoodForThought With the absurd, yet predictable verdict of 'Not Guilty' coming in for the Travon Martin case recently; these funny yet insightful words from the great Chris Rock definitely make sense as well as sum up the irony regarding Mr. Zimmerman. Take it as your minds receive it folks! #RIPTravon

Poster Boy

We are all quite sad because of the lack of major sports that ESPN has been showing. The wait for the 2013-2014 seasons for the NFL and NBA is excruciating. But as we wait we do have the little things that get us excited for the upcoming season.

The NBA summer league is in full effect. The guys fighting to make the team along with the new rookies that are trying to find their grove in the faster pace of the NBA. Every now and again we see a glimpse of an ESPN top ten worthy highlight. Former Duke player turned Brooklyn Net Mason Plumlee had one of those highlights. He posterizes former Georgia player turned Detroit Piston Kentavious Caldwell Pope. It was a pretty sick move and pretty disrespectful slam. It's one of those little things that gets you think about all the great posters you will see in the new NBA season. For now, we will replay this highlight until the next one comes along. Check out the dunk on the like below

The Last Thirst

Last year on this day me and my closest group of comrades put together one of the most epic cookouts in NewJersey.

There were an abundance of drinks, food, and friends. I figured why not do a nice little throw back for one of the dopest events  we've ever put together. So here are so random photos from that epic night. That's all for now!

Growth

*Squints off into the distance* Is that.. Nooo it can't be! *Surprised look* VOQ readers!? IT IS!

All jokes aside, I've missed you guys dearly. Yes, the prodigal son has returned. It's been quite some time since I've done anything in even the most remote capacity with the blog. I may correct a post here or repost a link there but I have been MIA in it's essence. Plenty has occurred in the time since. I've gotten a second degree, I've started my own business, I've moved and come back, I even found God.

So much has happened but I don't want to sit here and bore you with a run down of all that's been going on in my life. This post is more about me getting reacquainted with our readership. I know it's gone through some changes and shifted and I look forward to hearing from you guys! I want to get to know who the average Visions of Quest reader is!

This post is also for a little clarification. We started this blog with the intent of bringing an alternative view of music, fashion, sports, pop culture etc. In my mind, I boxed in the blog and if I had something that I felt didn't fit into that scope (or if I was just too lazy). I didn't post it. I've come to the realization that this is our blog and we can do with it what we please (I DO WHAT WANT *cartman voice*. Don't get me wrong, we aren't about to commit some sort of blogger anarchy. I've just realized that allotting more freedom with the things that we post will help to expand our readership, allow for more activity on the blog and give you guys something to enjoy on a regular basis.

It's a way for us to get back to the original intent of the blog while also allowing it to go into a new and more active direction. We love our core readership but expansions important! I want us to experience some growth. As the members of VOQ grow, so should our brand. So expect more post on more things. Music on a large scale, small scale, sports news that may interest us, funnies, Insta-videos, concerts, business and whatever else I deem noteworthy on the blog.

I'm back. You guys will see more of me. Get use to it. That's all for now!

Stay RURF... Wait... I'm not 20 anymore.

P.S.

I have to thank The 'U' for doing an amazing job of keeping the blog alive while the rest of us have dissipated.

The 'U' Meets Anne Hathaway

With this being the official 400th post here at Bloggin' Out, this one had to be both special and epic! And with that said yesterday was lovely. I hung out all day with my little brother Eddie Heartthrob while making some major moves for the DyHard Family in NY and at nite partied with my homie Mars Troy. We made our way to the official Wrap-Party of the film 'Song One' and had the honor of meeting the lovely, talented, Oscar-Winning Anne Hathaway! She and her husband Adam (sent him #NoDaysOff via email as he requested) were funny, delightful, and very enjoyable. No big deal, just hung out with one of the best actresses in the world! #AnneHathaway #Rockstarlife #NY #DyHard
