VOQ's favorite rapper Sah Ril has been releasing exclusive tracks to a select group of supporters, bloggers, and musical connoisseurs over the past few weeks and we were lucky enough to get a chance to be included in that bunch. I'm currently in my office, at my desk...sneaking this post. Lol because I wanted you all to feel the same sense of relief and pleasure while watching this in the midst of a mundane day at work or in class perfecting your hustle as well. I can't tell you how many early mornings I spent listening to "Ambitious Girl" while commuting to NYC to lug samples around for Vibe Magazine in the middle of a heat wave or late at night while I hung on by a thread finishing a ton of homework.

I'm sure I speak for the ladies when I say that the grind is always personally worthwhile, but it feels really good to have a guy (especially one as adorable as Wale) acknowledge how hard we work and how focused we are with our passions. It's about time he matched a picture with his words. I love the clarity and sincerity of the visuals in the video. Gotta keep this super brief, but enjoy!

VOQ Friends & Fam!!!..it's been a mean minute. I've been busy running the streets, chasing dreams, and well....watching my own damn throne. Ha! When I found out I was going to be attending the most legendary concert of our time I KNEW I was going to do a post on my experience...I didn't know I was going to be so blown away by it that it would take me a week to collect my thoughts LoL but here's the run down...

Thanks immensely to a homie of mine, D. Fenelus (@dfenelus) I was treated as an early birthday gift to head to the IZOD Center last Saturday. As if the offer alone wasn't amazing enough, I almost passed out when I found out that he scored floor seats!!! My anticipation was through the roof.

Fast forward to the lights going out and the instrumental for "H.A.M" being cued...as soon as I saw Kanye in his ill ass graphic tee and leather kilt (LoL only 'Ye man), I knew history was about to be made. Hov appeared on his own LED-covered platform and it was just overrrrr for me. Seriously, the graphics, the lights, the lazers...just..brilliant.

As Sid mentioned, they not only performed all the hits off of the WTT album, but their own individual hits as well. What I loved the MOST was the energy and passion that Jay-Z and Kanye STILL have for songs that were created damn near a decade ago. I was close enough to see a genuine smile on Hov's face when he deaded the beat and just straight spit "Jigga What" like he was back in that first moment. That's love. & Kanye's witty breaks here and there were cool too lol...honestly,their years of friendship and appreciation for each other's genius was so evident on stage it really made you feel good to be a fan. <3

I could go on and on forever about how much I truly enjoyed myself. No gas, Jay-Z and Kanye are the kings. If you were not in attendance you are not allowed to argue. Lmao. Much respect to them for their vision. The show was a complete success in my opinion. Hov and 'Ye...thank you for your talent, your creativity, and your 3 rounds of "Nxggas in Paris" before the show was through. Love, VOQ

Mind Blowing. Phenomenal. Life Changing. Unreal. These are just a few words I could use to describe the concert I had the pleasure of attending this past Saturday. Kanye West and Jay-'s Watch the Throne concert at the Izod Center in East Rutherford New Jersey was simply exquisite. I owe it all in full to one of my close friends, Atterbury (@TheGrizzest), whom I've known since highs school. He had a connect who was selling tickets and I leaped at the opportunity to get a pair. Mad my way to the concert and was BLOWN AWAY! Jay-Z and Kanye know how to put on a great show and keep the crowd live. Not only did they perfrOm tracks from their collab release Watch the Throne but they did a hefty fill of their other hits as well. Kanye did plenty of hit from "Jesus Walks" to "Runaway". Hov really showed the extent of his catalog doing some classics from Where I'm from to On to the next one. It truly was an enjoyable show. Easily the best concert I've ever been to. I have plenty of pics to enjoy and some video that I decided to share with you guys. Does'nt even do it justice but nonetheless.. ENJOI

Tonight the most troubling scenario imaginable that most of us in the PSU community feared came to reality as our beloved head coach for over 40 yrs, Joe Paterno, a legend, an icon was fired by the Board of Trustees along with the President of the school Graham Spanier. We have recently bombarded you with plenty of music and funnies on the blog here and I know there are plenty wondering "where's all the sneaker news". I have to say that in recent history I have been quite out of the sneakerhead loop. It saddens my heart to even say that BUT FRET NOT MY SNEAKER AFICIONADOS for I come to you bearing sneaker news!! New SNEAKER NEWS!! Penny Hardaway and Lebron James are probably the only athletes who have a line of sneakers that have been able to compete with Michael Jordan's over the years. And The fact that they are all owned by Nike brand says so much more. Today I want to talk about quite possibly the best new sneaker release of the year. My focus today is on the newest ode to Penny: The Nike Zoom Rookie LWP. These shoes have have taken the sneaker community by storm and created some noise in the sneaker game. A hybrid shoe taking bits and pieces of shoes that Penny has worn over his career its sleek design and clean finish makes a good look and an easy purchase for sneaker fanatic and occasional sneaker lover alike. With the first release occurring this past Thursday with the Pearl (Glow in the Dark) LWP quickstrike the shoes have started the 4th quarter of the sneaker year of quite nicely. The next color way to watch out for is the Binary Blue due out Nov 12th according to a tweet I received from @Nikestore. These are just two of the many colorways expected to make their debut this year and moving forward into 2012. So look out for all of them. I know for sure I'll be adding a few pairs of these to my collection along with some classic Foamposites as well. I have to say I am really excited about these releases and I care what you think too. It's that time of year again folks. Black entertainment television had its one spark of hope. On a channel that I (and this is a personal choice) choose not to watch there was the now infamous BET Cyphers. The Buzz from this years Cyphers were aplenty. The most talked about being the Shady 2.0 Cypher featuring Yelawolf, SlaghterHouse (Joe Budden, Crooked I, Joel Ortiz, and Royce Da 5'9) and Eminem. Noetheless, there were other Cyphers and so I figure why not post it for all of you who, like me, didn't/don't watch the Nig.. I mean the BET Awards. I know you've all missed me so much :) but I've been steady getting my life together. It's now time for me to get back at you guys with more and more lovely post STARTING TODAY!! I was browsing sneaker sites for what new heat will be hitting the streets and what else would catch my eye but the newest Jordan Doernbecher release. This time around they went with Jordan IVs. They've done some quite nifty designs with IIIs and VIs And now they take a second crack at the Jordan VIs. These funky retros will definitely be head turner black with arrow designs up and down the shoe give it an unorthodox vibe which is common place with a Doernbecher rendition of any shoe. A superman logo, tough blue net stitching, green laces and mid sole make the shoe pop. Along with the VIs these would have to be up there as one of my favorite Doernbecher design. No set release date but I'm sure they will be on the way soon! Once we know You will too.. Just take a gander at the pics after the jump! ENJOI!!
