Jam of The Week/Video Time!!: Aston Martin Music Rick Ross (ft. Chrisette Michele & Drake)

This week's J.O.W. was certified Boss Status!Teflon Don was hands down Ross' best album ever. It featured bangers by Lex Luger (one of the dopest up & coming producers out & he's 19), Yeezy, Jay-Z, Gucci Mane, Styles P. and a host of others. But my favorite track on the album was easily Aston Martin Music. Maybachs are soooo 2009, and this joint was on repeat on the iPod for a gooood minute. Not to mention the lovely, sexy, talented Miss Chrisette Michele provided the track with the soul and splendor which she always delivers. Enjoy folks!!!

AITCH to the MizzO N to the izzEY

A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to go see one of the artist I have watched grow and develop perform for the first time. H-Money (or Aitch) performed at Mood Lounge. I have to say I was quite impressed. It was a nice crowd, good music and drinks which is always a good combimation. From start finish Aitch kept the crowd live and his band played a major part in that. He was held down by his right hand hype man Ace Youngin and his Drummer (one hell of a drummer I might add) J-Rock. All in all in was a good show. I also got a chance to hear a few snippets from his next mixtape... Let's just say this is only the beginning. I have some videos of the perfance that will be up once I get a working computer. So just take a gander at my reviews of the show and Aitch's mixtape The Umbrella Prequel. That's all got for you today. ENJOI!

Cypher of the Decade Was Really G.O.O.D.!!!

If you missed the BET Hip Hop Awards this year you didnt miss much. However, there were some memorable moments like the Pac tribute, Dip Set returning, and the Guru tribute. But the highlight once again was the cypher. Last year the Eminem/Mos Def/Black Though cypher easily stole the show but how about a G.O.O.D. Cypher. Yeezy, Comm Sense, Big Sean, Cyhi The Prince all with the MJ of DJ's Premo on the wheels of steel. Hip Hop paradise. This was timeless in every aspect of the word!!! Enjoy!

At Last There Will Be >>>>L.A.S.E.R.S.

After protesting, petitioning, angry tweets, interviews, and high degrees of grime behavior all is well with Lupe & Atlantic Records. His 3rd studio LP finally has a release date (March 28th) and the 3 and half-year hiatus will be ended. The mixtapes, features, and singles here and there were a good apple teaser for his loyal fans (including myself!!!) but studio LP's is where artists leave their legacies and the countdown now begins for March 28th. L.A.S.E.R.S is slated to be another classic from Mr Fiasco!

Jam of The Week: Relaxation J.Cole (ft. Fashawn & Omen)

This week's J.O.W. once again features that dude from Carolina. J. Cole isn't cooling off anytime soon. He's got a dope mixtape on the way which will be the prelude to his highly anticipated debut album. He grabbed fellow XXL '10 freshman Fashawn and another up-starter Omen and laid down a pretty dope laid back reminder of why Jay-Z made him the first member of the Roc-Nation family. Enjoy folks!

Artist... And the Labels that Kill them...

This Post is self explanatory. I felt like it needed to be read. SO READ. ENJOI! Read:

Nas letter to Def Jam

From: Nas
To: LA Reid, Steve Bartels, Steve Gawley, Michael Seltzer, Joseph Borrino, Chris Hicks
Subject: PUT MY SHIT OUT!

Peace to all,

With all do respect to you all, Nas is NOBODY’s slave. This is not the 1800′s, respect me and I will respect you.

I won’t even tap dance around in an email, I will get right into it. People connect to the Artist @ the end of the day, they don’t connect with the executives. Honestly, nobody even cares what label puts out a great record, they care about who recorded it. Yet time and time again its the executives who always stand in the way of a creative artist’s dream and aspirations. You don’t help draw the truth from my deepest and most inner soul, you don’t even do a great job @ selling it. The #1 problem with DEF JAM is pretty simple and obvious, the executives think they are the stars. You aren’t…. not even close. As a matter of fact, you wish you were, but it didn’t work out so you took a desk job. To the consumer, I COME FIRST. Stop trying to deprive them! I have a fan base that dies for my music and a RAP label that doesn’t understand RAP. Pretty fucked up situation

This isn’t the 90′s though. Beefing with record labels is so 15 years ago. @ this point I just need you all to be very clear where I stand and how I feel about “my label.” I could go on twitter or hot 97 tomorrow and get 100,000 protesters @ your building but I choose to walk my own path my own way because since day one I have been my own man. I did business with Tommy Mottola and Donnie Einer, two of the most psycho dudes this business ever created. I worked well with them for one major reason……. they believed in me. The didn’t give a fuck about what any radio station or magazine said….those dudes had me.

Lost Tapes is a movement and a very important set up piece for my career as it stands. I started this over 5 years ago @ Columbia and nobody knew what it was or what it did but the label put it out as an LP and the fans went crazy for it and I single handlely built a new brand of rap albums. It’s smart and after 5 years it’s still a head of the game. This feels great and you not feeling what I’m feeling is disturbing. Don’t get in the way of my creativity. We are aligned with the stars here, this is a movement. There is a thing called KARMA that comes to haunt you when you tamper with the aligning stars. WE ARE GIVING THE PEOPLE EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT. Stop throwing dog shit on a MAGICAL moment.

You don’t get another Nas recording that doesn’t count against my deal….PERIOD! Keep your bullshit $200,000.00 fund. Open the REAL budget. This is a New York pioneers ALBUM, there ain’t many of us. I am ready to drop in the 4th quarter. You don’t even have shit coming out! Stop being your own worst enemy. Let’s get money!

-N.Jones

It's sad when an artist as established as Nas has to send this to his label..
SB: Shout out to my homey Manny. I definitely got this off his Tumblr.

Finer Things in Life

So as of late Jordan brand has been stirring a lot of buzz with the anticipation of some future releases slated for this and next year. The alleged Laney High/Grape V pack, Cool Grey XIs AND Vs, Flint XIIIs are just a few of the releases that have sneakerheads counting down days on their calender. They have also upped the ante with the Premium quality QS (Quickstrike <- Make sure you keep up ill only do this once) Premio Bin 23s that have dropped. 3 have released so far the Premio Bin IIs, IXs, and XIIIs. There is news of the fourth installment of the Premio Bin 23 line being the Jordan VIIs (My favorite Jordans). Photos have released and I have to say once they give a set release date I will be in line for my pair. There have been mixed reviews but in my eyes these are one of the best releases in recent history. From the photos you see that the shoe is of the utmost quality and they took a bit of a chance with the color blocking which really makes the shoe come alive. These are a must cop for any Jordan VII or Sneaker connoisseur. Dope Concept. Dope Kick. ENJOI!
