Freestlyes Never Get Old
Hey folks! Kind of half asleep after pulling a near all-nighter in the studio last night (Sidebar-'U' Jersey Vol 3 on the way & is gonna be something fierce...shameless plug & I have no shame bout it lol) But enough about my endeavors. The Days of Yo! MTV Raps with Ed Lover & Dr. Dre & Rap City in the Bassment with Big Tigger brought some of the dopest freestyles of all time. Not to mention classic shows which are still going strong like Taco Tuesdays with Tony Touch, The Funkmaster Flex Show, On The Spot with DJ Green Lantern, I could go for days. Here are two REDUNKULOUS freestyles one from a little back with Lupe Fiasco & one recently with J. Cole & from time to time be expecting more of these gems, cyphers, and booth sessions that make Hip Hop what it is & will always be...GROOVY!

JAM OF THE WEEK: Just Begun (Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek ft. Jay Electronica, J. Cole, & Mos Def)
Any time I need a reminder of why I love this Hip Hop Music thing so much I hit shuffle on the iPod Touch, or I go on one of my infamous 'Rap Runs' online to search for new tunes by favorite MC's of past and present. This week I heard through the grapevine that Talib Kweli & DJ Hi-Tek were linking back up for the first time in a goood minute for a much needed mixtapeThe RE:Union Mixtape (mixed by Statik Selektah) and album which will be released later this year. The mixtape is dope & is a MUST-COP for true Hip Hop Heads out there. But the featured track is Bloggn Out's Inaugural JAM OF THE WEEK! Just Begun featuring Talib Kweli, Jay Electronica, J. Cole, & Mos Def. Yoooo! I had this on repeat for literally 3 days straight. It is actually playing as this post is being made lol These 4 MC's Amadou Diallo'd this Hi-Tek beat and proved once again if you have the audacity to think Hip Hop is dead you are brain dead yourself. If you were to list the best verse you really wouldn't be wrong putting anyone first or last because everyone was on their A+ game for real. Check out the track for yourself & make sure you grab the rest of this mixtape ASAP!

GRINDIN'!!!!!
Howdy folks its back to school for Visions. The U headed back to Penn for the start of the semester. Hudini (aka The Magic man[my name for him lol]) is on his school flow soon. And I'm back at good ole Rutgers University starting back my semester. So we as group will be very busy and grinding out. So we may not be around as often but we will be here. Got some new post coming your way so don't worry and sit tight. I have also taken to picking back up my pen and practicing freestylin (DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT BECOMING A RAPPER) just to get the mind sharp (I am also reading more and doing sudokus again lol). Who knows might even post my verses for folks to read and critique. I'm doing all this because I want to make my mind and body more refined, efficient, and creative for you guys so I got to train them both. I have also adopted the "IF" diet from the homey Sah Ril (Check it out Here) which will also help Visions take strides in the right directions. No doubting the movement or the impact we are going to have. So with that I will tell you we are all Grindin and with that I will leave you with the video so aptly named. ENJOI!

"Song of the Year goes to...."
Its a new year. New songs are dropping and all that good stuff. But I wanted to take a step back and actually tell you folks what my choice for song of 2009 was. If you don't remember the choices I'll refresh your memory. My post "And the Winner is.." (consider your memory refreshed). One Thing I did notice about my choices was as much as I tried to deny it Gucci Mane (smh) had a choke hold on 2009 along with one of my all time favorites Hov. And that is really what it ALMOST came down to. A southern phenom (in the oddest sense of the word) and an All Time Great battling out for my song of the year. But I almost forgot about the underground come up with Nigerian blood in his Veins. When I really thought about it the decision came down to 3 songs that I was bumping from the time I heard them. Wasted (Remix) by Gucci Mane, Pretty Girls by Wale, and Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z. All songs I had in heavy rotation throughout the ending parts of 09. When It came down to it I chose the song that really bumped in my iTunes, I felt like I could isten to at any time (and over and over) not just the hottest. And that is why the choice for MY(emphasis on MY) Song of the year goes to.............

(Artist Spotlight): FortTexasPittsylvania
Today's artist spotlight is a guy by the name of Nick Pratt. I was introduced to his music by a friend of mine and his manager BarryB. From what I have listened too Nick is an artist on the rise. Relentless delivery, clever metaphors, and a southern bravado makes him a force to be reckoned with. Although I haven't had the chance to meet him personally I can just imagine the hunger and drive of this budding artist. A guy hailing from Texas but currently resides in Pennsylvania as a student. Nick has a smooth flow and an ever developing style as an artist. I'm looking for ward to getting a listen of how works at putting together a full length Mixtape or Cd. Until then I'll rock with his Freestyle File flows and some of his tracks off his Website. I'm looking forward to hearing more from the southern MC and he now has one more potential fan. From what I have heard I am leaning towards favoring Nick Pratt but when a full body is presented my verdict will handed down (LIKE A JUDGE WITH A GAVEL lol.. ok I'm back). For now Just Check out my Review of him and some of his music. You might be pleasantly surprised and discover something new to listen to. That's it for now folks. ENJOI!

My Favorite number is VI
I am a sneakerhead in every sense of the word AND PROUD OF IT. And am one that is heavily loyal to the Jordan/Nike Brand especially. So I make sure I am up to date with every new sneaker release and I am always on the newest sneaker news. This past holiday season we saw the re-release of the Retro 11 Space Jams and the resurgence of the Jordan Retro XIIs. This past year we saw the heavy saturation of the Jordan Retro Is. In the New Year JB(Jordan Brand.. sneakerhead lingo lol) is looking to have the Jordan VI make a huge come back. This past year they released the Doernbecher VIs and this year will be filled with more of the same. We will be gettin the closest thing to the Holy Grail infrared VIs with the release with the Black/Varsity Red pair that is going to be released. We are also getting a pair reminiscent of the White and Infrared with the release of White/Varsity Red. We are also going to get a couple pairs of NEW RETROS which is exciting for any sneakerhead. Im excited anyway and I want you to be too. I also wanted to wet your whistle with some picks. ENJOI!

The 'U' & Sah ril Finally Go In!
After several phone calls, texts, tweets, emails, and other means of communication I finally met up with Mr. Sah ril/Boogie for a collaboration. 'U' Jersey Vol 3 which will be released later this year is the 3rd and final installment in the 'U' Jersey Mixtape Series and there was no way I was dropping this tape without Sah. Let me give you guys a brief re-cap of the session. I got to Sah's crib/studio in Brick City-Newark late Saturday night and after about 4 hours of brain storming, getting in the zone with the beat, E & J Brandy, Coke, a ton of laughter in-studio, "Goin' In" was completed. Me & Sah shared a ton of insight on different experiences we've gone through thus far in our respective careers, future projects, favorite artists, the direction of Hip Hop, and most importantly jokes. I've had the pleasure and honor of working with a number of different artists but working with Sah on this joint was a very fulfilling experience. The beat was produced by another aspiring producer/artist and good friend, Killa Kake (the next J Dilla & oh yea hes white lol) and if you want any idea what is in store with Vol 3 later in 2010 check out the track for yourself!

THE GAME IS OVER BOODAH BUY BUY!!
For All my sports fans (many of whom are probably watching football right now) have come to know and love the Lebron and Kobe Most Valuable Puppet Commercials. They have to be the most well thought out and hilarious commercials I have seen in a while. The series they had during the playoffs last season were brilliant and even the most recent ones for the Christmas seasons. So funny I figured why not do a post have them compiled for those who have seen them and even those who haven't to appreciate them as well. SO ENJOI! (SB: AND HAPPY NEW YEAR FOLKS!!!!!)
Part 1 of 3: Blitzen Rap
Part 2 of 3: Santa Raps
Part 3 of 3: Dunking on Reindeer
